$101 million in new giving pushes Shari Redstone’s family philanthropy past the $2 billion milestone

In one of the most generous philanthropic years in recent memory, Shari Redstone has once again proven herself to be among America’s most dedicated and forward-looking benefactors.

As chair of the Redstone Family Foundation, she guided the awarding of $101 million in grants during 2025—supporting more than 400 organizations dedicated to strengthening the Jewish community, advancing health and education, and promoting diversity, tolerance, and mutual understanding.

Much of this year’s giving was shaped by a rapidly changing world. In the wake of the October 7 attacks, Redstone led the foundation in directing primary new resources to combat antisemitism and support Israel’s resilience, while continuing to expand long-standing commitments to health equity and social bridge-building.

Her approach—empathetic yet strategic—reflects a deep belief in the power of philanthropy to heal divides and fortify communities at home and abroad.

Taken together, the lifetime impact of the Redstone family’s philanthropy is staggering. Between the Redstone Family Foundation and the Sumner M. Redstone Charitable Foundation, total giving now exceeds $2 billion—a legacy encompassing hospitals, education, the arts, youth empowerment, anti-hate initiatives, and global humanitarian efforts.

Beyond her philanthropic work, Redstone has long been recognized as a pioneering leader in business and media.

A graduate of Tufts University and Boston University School of Law, she practiced law before joining National Amusements, the company founded by her grandfather, Michael Redstone. During her tenure as president, she expanded the company’s international reach and led it into new frontiers of entertainment and technology.

While she has since stepped away from her corporate roles, Redstone’s focus today is firmly centered on philanthropy and social impact—channeling her experience, leadership, and resources toward building a more tolerant, inclusive, and resilient society.

Through her roles on the boards of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, CASA at Columbia University, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, and BUILD, she continues to champion causes that uplift lives and bridge divides.

In an era of profound global challenge, Shari Redstone’s philanthropy stands as both a moral compass and a testament to the enduring power of purposeful leadership and compassion.
