Mark and Shelly Saltzman make leadership naming gift to Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Clinic announced that Mark and Shelly Saltzman have made a leadership gift to establish the Lake County Community Health Accelerator Fund, supporting community health initiatives for years to come. Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital will Name Pavilion in their Honor.

“It is clear that the Saltzman’s are committed to the health and wellness of the Lake County residents,” said Richard Parker, M.D., president of Hillcrest and Mentor hospitals. “Their leadership gift will benefit the members of the community now and in the future.”

In recognition of the Saltzman family’s generosity, the Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital building will become the Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital Saltzman Family Pavilion.

“The idea is to help Lake County residents gain access to health resources,” said Mark Saltzman. Shelly Saltzman added, “Our support is all about helping people enter the healthcare system and get their issues taken care of to prevent more serious problems.”

The Saltzmans’ gift will fund various programs, including a new position of Medical Officer for Community Health Outcomes. That individual, together with Cleveland Clinic’s Chief Community Officer and Chief of Staff, will work with the community and key stakeholders to deliver annual programs and health assessment outcomes. This component of the gift serves as a pilot for potential future programs in other communities where Cleveland Clinic is present.

Their gift will also provide support for the Mentor Hospital president to direct priorities that are important to the delivery of Cleveland Clinic’s mission.

Mark is the CEO and president of Buyers Products Company. Buyers Products is well known in the Mentor community as it has been anchored there since 1985. Founded by Shelly’s grandmother and great uncle in 1946, Buyers Products is currently Mentor’s largest employer in the manufacturing and distribution sector and is a leading manufacturer nationally for work truck equipment and trailer components.

Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital is nearing its one-year anniversary. It opened last July, becoming the city of Mentor’s first hospital and Cleveland Clinic’s first in Lake County.
