$600 million mark passed in philanthropist Tom Golisano’s charitable giving

Thomas Golisano, a self-made billionaire and renowned philanthropist, has built a remarkable legacy through his business acumen and charitable giving.

He founded Paychex, a leading provider of payroll and human resource services, in 1971 with just $3,000 and grew it into a multibillion-dollar company that serves over 730,000 businesses nationwide.

His entrepreneurial success has made him one of the most impactful philanthropists in the U.S.

Golisano’s most recent significant donation was a gift of $85 million to 41 nonprofit organizations in Southwest Florida, with grants ranging from $150,000 to $10 million to support health care, education, and community services.

A few months earlier, he made his most significant philanthropic commitment, donating $360 million to 82 nonprofits across Upstate New York.

Golisano has contributed over $600 million to charitable causes, funding hospitals, education programs, and initiatives that improve the lives of people with disabilities.

His giving has led to establishing the Golisano Children’s Hospitals in Florida and New York and significant contributions to Special Olympics and other organizations dedicated to inclusivity and accessibility.
