$15 million gift from Dr. Emanuel and Sheila Landsman for clinic transformation and delivery of cutting-edge, AI-enabled patient care

Burlington’s Lahey Hospital & Medical Center has announced a landmark $15 million gift from Dr. Emanuel and Sheila Landsman, one of the largest philanthropic commitments in the hospital’s history.
This donation will fund the rejuvenation of the Dr. Emanuel and Sheila Landsman Hybrid Operating Room, advancing Lahey’s vision for clinic transformation and delivery of cutting-edge, AI-enabled patient care.
The Landsmans are among Lahey’s most dedicated supporters, with a long track record of giving to priority areas such as cardiovascular care, emergency services, cancer treatment, and energy efficiency initiatives, helping to position Lahey as a leader in healthcare innovation.
Their initial gift established the Hybrid Operating Room in 2010; their latest support ensures it remains at the forefront of surgical advancements.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Susan Moffatt-Bruce, President of Lahey Hospital, said this transformational gift will allow Lahey to deliver state-of-the-art, efficient surgical care for the next century.
“As a young man, I received scholarships that enabled me to complete my education,” said Dr. Landsman, emphasizing the family’s strong commitment to giving back.
The Landsmans’ philanthropic spirit and continued engagement are recognized as pivotal to Lahey’s capacity to meet future challenges and serve the community with excellence.
Dr. Emanuel Landsman, a noted philanthropist and entrepreneur, co-founded American Power Conversion Corporation (APC) and met Sheila at MIT; the couple has a daughter and three grandchildren.
