$13 million latest donation to humanitarian organizations working in crisis-affected regions increases Slaight family’s overall giving to $300 million

Gary Slaight, head of the Slaight Family Foundation of Toronto, has announced a new philanthropic commitment of $13 million, providing $1 million each to 13 humanitarian organizations working in crisis-affected regions around the world.

The funding will be distributed over two years and is intended to support critical services in areas such as Bangladesh, South Sudan, and Yemen.

According to the Foundation, the goal is to help maintain essential programs operated by Canadian and international organizations facing significant funding challenges.

This initiative continues the Foundation’s longstanding tradition of large-scale philanthropy.

Established in 2008 by broadcasting executive Allan Slaight and now led by his son Gary Slaight, the Foundation has donated more than $300 million to a wide range of causes.

These include healthcare innovation, mental health services for youth, support for people with disabilities, seniors’ programs, Indigenous initiatives, and the arts.

Notable recent contributions include $30 million for disability inclusion, $26.5 million for youth mental health, and $15 million to Canadian performing arts organizations.

The new $13 million commitment reflects the Foundation’s ongoing focus on strategic, multi-year support across both domestic and global needs.

With this latest initiative, the Slaight Family Foundation continues to expand its reach and reinforce its role as a major contributor to humanitarian and development efforts.

The Foundation’s work highlights a consistent dedication to supporting communities and organizations in need through impactful, targeted philanthropy.
