$20 million gift to local university hospital from Danny and Gail Jones

Jones Junction Automotive Group owners Danny and Gail Jones have given a transformative $20 million gift to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, marking the largest single donation in the hospital system’s history and solidifying the couple’s reputation as leading philanthropists in Harford County.

The donation, will underwrite a sweeping rebranding and multi-year expansion of seven primary care centers across the county and fund both current operations and the creation of an endowment for future behavioral and primary health programs.

The new and existing primary care services now carry the Joneses’ names, with the “Danny and Gail Jones Tower” and the rebranded “Danny and Gail Jones Primary Care Program,” ensuring their legacy of philanthropy is embedded in local healthcare infrastructure.

Danny and Gail Jones, third-generation owners of the 108-year-old, family-run Jones Junction group in Bel Air, have long been recognized for their generous support of community initiatives, including previous gifts totaling nearly $1 million to Upper Chesapeake Health, as well as support for Cancer LifeNet and the Senator Bob Hooper House hospice.

The couple’s latest philanthropic investment not only expands critical health services for more than 260,000 residents but also affirms their belief that business leadership should go hand in hand with deep community investment.

With this historic $20 million commitment—and a legacy of supporting both nonprofit and healthcare causes in Harford County, Danny and Gail Jones further establish Jones Junction Automotive Group as an enduring anchor institution, building community strength for generations to come.
