$10 million new gift to school from Robert Fox raises his contributions to $20 million

Colgate University has announced a landmark $105 million in new gifts to support the most significant campus expansion in its history, with Robert Fox, a 1959 graduate, contributing a $10 million gift as part of this record-setting initiative.
Fox’s donation, alongside gifts from other prominent alumni, will fund the Lower Campus initiative, a transformative project aimed at enhancing residential life and fostering a more cohesive student community along Broad Street in Hamilton, New York.
The Lower Campus project is a cornerstone of Colgate’s ambitious Third-Century Plan, which seeks to extend the university’s acclaimed residential experience to upperclass students and further strengthen its position as a leader in liberal arts education.
Colgate President Brian W. Casey expressed deep gratitude for Fox’s generosity, noting that such leadership gifts are vital to realizing the university’s vision for the future.
Fox’s longstanding commitment to Colgate is well documented; in 2015, he made another $10 million gift to establish the Fox Partnership, which ultimately inspired nearly $27 million in additional financial aid commitments from other alumni and friends of the university.
Robert Fox’s philanthropic legacy extends far beyond Colgate.
He and his wife, Penny, have made numerous significant contributions in education, health, the arts, and civic engagement.
