PeaceHealth has been given $50 million from Peter H. Paulsen to expand its St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington.
It is one of the most substantial gifts to a community healthcare system in the United States over the last several years. The funds will create the Peter Paulsen Pavilion and will expand access with a new emergency department with state-of-the-art care for women, children, and newborns.
Paulsen’s donation supports PeaceHealth’s Stronger Together fundraising campaign, which has already raised $15.5 million in donations. Print to this contribution, Paulsen’s gifts to the organization included support for hospice programs.
“My gift, along with the other $15.5 million already raised, help ensure PeaceHealth’s continued innovation in best-in-class community-based health care,” said Paulsen.
“I was encouraged by early donors to this effort and hope others will join us. As the name implies,together, we can all help ensure that the people of northwest Washington have access to first-class care for years to come.”
