$100 million raised for LA community organizations helping those impacted by fires with $50 million matching gift from Connie and Steve Ballmer

Steve Ballmer, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, and his wife, Connie, have pledged $50 million to support wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles, matching every donation raised during the FireAid benefit concerts on Jan. 30, 2025. Their matching gift helped push the event’s total fundraising over $100 million.

The FireAid concerts featured performances by top artists, including Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Dr. Dre, No Doubt, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Concert organizers expanded the event to two venues to accommodate the lineup, and more than 50 million viewers watched live across multiple platforms.

Funds from the benefit are being managed by the FireAid Grants Advisory Committee, led by the Annenberg Foundation, to support both immediate relief and long-term recovery.

The $50 million will go to community-based groups providing assistance for children and families, displaced workers, small businesses, and schools. Grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 are available for smaller organizations. Among the beneficiaries is Project:Camp, an L.A.-based nonprofit that provides trauma-informed care for children affected by disasters.

The Eaton and Palisades Fires, which ignited on Jan. 7, killed at least 29 people and destroyed nearly 17,000 structures. Rebuilding efforts are expected to take years, with more than 135,000 residents seeking FEMA assistance.

The FireAid concert remains available on streaming platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Hulu, with donations still being accepted.

The Ballmers also extended their matching pledge for donations made through on-demand streaming of the event until January 2026.
