$100 million new gift from philanthropist Lyndal Stephens Greth to advance construction of the new $5 billion pediatric campus
UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health, together with Southwestern Medical Foundation, have announced a landmark $100 million gift from the Stephens Greth Foundation to advance construction of the new $5 billion Dallas pediatric campus. In recognition of the contribution, a major inpatient tower at the future Moody Children’s Hospital will be named Stephens Greth Tower.
The donation comes from Lyndal Stephens Greth, director and executive chairman of the foundation and daughter of the late oilman Autry C. Stephens, founder of Endeavor Energy Resources. The foundation was formed in 2024 following the sale of the Midland-based company, one of the nation’s largest privately held oil producers.
“For our family, there was never really a question,” said Greth, a longtime Dallas resident. “We felt called to be a part of helping every child have access to the level of care and support that can truly change their life.”
The new campus, located across from UT Southwestern’s William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in the Southwestern Medical District, is designed to deliver leading-edge pediatric care in an environment centered on children and families. Stephens Greth Tower will be connected to Clements Hospital by a skybridge, linking its expanded Maternal Fetal Health Center to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Moody Children’s Hospital for seamless care between mothers and newborns.
UT Southwestern President Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D., said the gift “will shape the future of pediatric medicine in Texas” by enabling breakthrough research, training, and care. Christopher J. Durovich, president and CEO of Children’s Health, called the donation “a historic investment in North Texas families.”
Expected to open in 2031, the 33‑acre pediatric campus will encompass more than 4.9 million square feet and include 552 beds across three towers. The facility will offer patient-centered rooms, green spaces, and amenities such as playrooms, a multifaith chapel, and family libraries to create a healing, supportive environment for children.
The Stephens Greth Foundation gift marks the fourth commitment of $100 million or more to the pediatric campus, joining major donations from the Pogue Foundation, The Rees-Jones Foundation, and the Moody Foundation.
