$10 million gift to regional medical center from Michael Jordan honors his mother and advances his vision for compassionate, accessible healthcare

The gift will establish the Novant Health Deloris Jordan Neuroscience Institute, a leading center for brain health research, advanced neurological care, and innovation across southeastern North Carolina.

Designed to serve patients facing complex conditions such as stroke, spinal disorders, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s, the institute will expand access to specialized treatment while strengthening Novant Health’s mission to deliver world-class care close to home.

For Jordan, the decision to honor his mother in this way carries deep personal significance. “My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community, and I can’t think of a better way to honor her than by helping to ensure those in need can obtain the most advanced neurological care available,” he said.

“I’m proud to continue to partner with Novant Health to expand access to world-class healthcare in my hometown and to support my mother’s work and interest in global health and wellness.”

This gift brings Jordan’s total contributions to the Novant Health Foundation to $27 million, building on a partnership that has already transformed access to care throughout North Carolina.

Previous donations helped establish four Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinics in Charlotte and Wilmington, which provide affordable, comprehensive care to residents, many of whom previously faced barriers to medical services.
