$10 million donation to college by Michael Gerdin

Luther College announced a $10 million donation for renovations.

The gift, which is the largest in the college’s history, was donated by Michael Gerdin.

The Regents Center will be renamed as the Gerdin Fieldhouse for athletics and wellness.

The President says that Luther College is also in early stages of fundraising for major renovation of Regents.

Plans are in place to reconfigure the gym, renovate locker rooms, add gathering and study spaces, and adding air conditioning.

Heartland Express is led by Michael Gerdin, who started his career with Heartland in 1983 as a teenager working in the truck wash bay.

From 1998 to 2001, Mike was President of A&M Express, a wholly owned subsidiary of Heartland Express.  In 2001 Michael was appointed to Vice-President of Regional Operations, and in 2006 he was appointed to President of the Company.

Mike earned his BA degree in Business Management from Luther College.
