$190 million for children’s and Parkinson’s causes from Ozzy Osbourne

July 5, 2025, will go down as a historic night in both rock and philanthropic history as Ozzy Osbourne reunited with Black Sabbath for the “Back to the Beginning” benefit concert in their hometown of Birmingham.

The event raised an estimated $190 million for three major charities: Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorns Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s.

The staggering figure makes it one of the most successful single-event charitable fundraisers in recent memory.

Held at Villa Park Stadium, the concert was a global event, with fans attending in person and tuning in via livestream from over 80 countries.

Funds were raised through ticket sales, online donations, celebrity-donated auction items—including Ozzy’s stage gear and custom guitars from Tony Iommi—and high-profile charitable contributions from private donors.

The causes supported were deeply personal to Osbourne, who has spoken candidly about his Parkinson’s diagnosis since 2020 and has long supported children’s health initiatives in the UK.

“This was the greatest honor of my life,” Osbourne told the crowd, visibly moved.

“We came home not just to play, but to give something back.”

Although widely known for his outsized persona and pioneering influence on heavy metal, Ozzy Osbourne has established a philanthropic legacy that encompasses support for medical research, youth health programs, mental health awareness, and disaster relief.

Over the years, he and his wife, Sharon, have contributed to numerous causes, ranging from cancer research to post-9/11 aid efforts.

His renewed focus on Parkinson’s advocacy and childhood care in Birmingham adds a new, deeply personal chapter to that legacy.

The benefit not only brought one of music’s most legendary bands back to their roots—it demonstrated the extraordinary power of art, legacy, and community to spark meaningful change on a global scale.
